Naughten to back Harris in vote for Taoiseach

Independent TD Denis Naughten has said he will be supporting Simon Harris in the vote for Taoiseach next week.

The Roscommon-Galway deputy is the latest non-party TD to back Mr Harris, while former Fianna Fáil TD Marc MacSharry is also supporting him. However, two other local Independents, Marian Harkin and Michael Fitzmaurice are voting against him. Mr Harris is expected to be comfortably elected as Taoiseach next Tuesday. Deputy Naughten says he has worked well with him in the past.
