Close to 400 hectares of land are covered with forestry in the Shannonside Region.
According to new figures released by the CSO afforestation levels in the county accounted for 397 hectares of land in 2022.
The majority of forestry in the region is coniferous in nature, with 265 hectares covered in different breeds including sitka spruce and scot's pine.
Roscommon had the highest amount of afforested land, with 176 hectares in total covered, 119 of which was coniferous and 57 of broadleaf trees.
That's followed by Leitrim where there was 152 hectares of forestry covered land comprising of 27 hectares of broadleaf and 123 hectares of coniferous growth.
Longford meanwhile is one of the few counties nationwide with a greater proportion of deciduous forestry than coniferous.
The CSO data shows 69 hectares broken down into 49 of broadleaf and 23 hectares of coniferous trees.
Nationally, Cork has the highest level, at 400 afforested hectares.
