A HIQA report on a disability service in Roscommon has identified a number of fire safety issues in need of attention.
The Brothers of Charity's Poppy Service was the subject of an unannounced inspection in March.
The centre can provide care for up to six male and female residents, who are over the age of 18 years, and who have an intellectual disability, with five residents in situ on the day of inspection.
Inspectors described a warm and pleasant atmosphere in each of these three houses that comprised the centre, with staff noted as supporting residents with their morning and daily routines, in a very friendly and relaxed manner.
Poppy Services recorded full compliance in areas including staffing, visits, infection control, care plans and protection.
However three issues were identified as fire safety works in need of attention.
These included the need for Maintenance works in all three houses with regard to fire containment, a review of fire safety checks and a review of fire procedure to ensure staff could respond in the event of a fire.
In a statement to Shannonside FM news, The Brothers of Charity say a comprehensive action plan to address each of the matters in the report has been submitted to, and accepted by HIQA.
They further stated that substantial progress has been made on addressing the issues highlighted and the services are committed to ensuring all remaining actions are addressed in line with the time frame's outlined in the plan.
