The Manager at the Arigna Mining Experience in north Roscommon says they hope a new Discovery Park can be developed on the site within the next couple of years.
Valerie Stenson was warmly welcoming news today that a grant of half a million euro has been allocated for the Arigna Energy Inclusive Discovery Park.
The park will be on a site beside the existing mining experience, and will involve an area with outdoor equipment suitable for children of all abilities, as well as energy and bio-diversity trail, and a viewing platform.
Valerie says the energy path will explain how energy production has changed over the years, and a special viewing platform will make the most of the spectacular scenery.
The Mining Experience Manager also paid tribute today to Eugene McPartlan who died in recent days, and who she described as the "public face" of the project, as well as being a huge supporter over the years.
