A new bus service is to be launched between Athlone and Mullingar today.
TFI Local Link Longford-Westmeath-Roscommon is launching a new bus route, which will improve connectivity between Athlone and Mullingar.
The new route is part of the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan, which is funded by the National Transport Authority as part of the TFI Network.
Route 819 will operate five return trips seven days a week and will connect areas such as Castletown Geoghegan, Loughnavalley, Ballymore, Drumraney, Mount Temple, and Baylin.
The service will also provide improved connectivity at Mullingar and Athlone Irish Rail Stations for commuters to Dublin, Sligo and Galway, as well as serving the FÁS Centre in Garrycastle and the Fardrum Stop, which will facilitate journeys to the Athlone campus of the Technological University of the Shannon.
The bus will also link Mullingar town to Belvedere House Gardens and Park, with three services a day to the Westmeath County Council Parkland Amenity.
The bus service will begin operating on Monday 28th of August.
