New car registrations in the Shannonside Northern Sound region have decreased once again when compared to figures from last year.
The January report from The Society of the Irish Motor Industry shows all but one county in the region recorded a decrease in new cars bought and registered in the last month, when compared to January 2020.
Longford was the only county in the region that saw an increase in new vehicles with a 7 percent jump in registrations compared to January 2020.
Cavan saw the biggest drop in registrations when comparing the years, down 15 percent from the beginning of last year.
Roscommon, Monaghan and Leitrim saw incremental drops this January, down 35, 25, and 15 percent respectively.
Nationally the registration of new cars is down almost 18 percent on last year, with light and heavy good vehicles also suffering a dip in sales.
