It's hoped that two murals in Carrick on Shannon , which feature the heritage of county Leitrim, will attract more tourists into the town.
The artworks, which are located on the gable walls on the main street, were completed by artist Eloise Gillow to depict the heritage of Leitrim GAA and the Swift population that nest in Carrick on Shannon.
The murals are funded under Rural Development LEADER Programme and developed through the Carrick on Shannon Heritage Group.
Group Manager Teresa O'Callaghan believes the murals are an attractive photo opportunity for tourists:
'We are very happy with it as there has been a huge public response to it . We are in the process of having a booklet printed to explain the detail behind the murals so strangers coming to the town that when they look at the figures especially on the GAA one that they will have an idea of the background.'
