A new Chief Superintendent has been appointed to the Longford/Roscommon Garda Division.
Chief Super Raymond McMahon is to take over the role from tomorrow following the retirement of Tony Healy from the position last week.
The new Garda Chief is a native Leitrim man and previously headed the Garda National Roads Policing Bureau.
The Carrick on Shannon man has extensive experience of policing in the Shannonside region, with postings in Sligo, Longford and the border area over the course of his career.
He'll assume responsibility for both the Longford/Roscommon Division along with the Mayo Garda Division from tomorrow.
