A new scheme is aiming to combine coding and agriculture for primary school kids in the Shannonside region
The "Coding with Cows" initiative is a game developed by PhD and postdoctoral researchers where students learn inputs to generate data on a cow's activity and health.
The idea was introduced in Athlone on Thursday to the department of education.
Project Lead Lucile Reaboff says technology and farming are becoming more and more integrated and it's important that students gain an understanding of coding:
for example in this game, we simulate we gather data from a activity neck collar worn by cattle.
This is something already done in farming and in research.
Farming and breeding is very important in Ireland.
It's so interesting to provide this type of knowledge
