Carrick-on-Shannon is in line for a jobs boost later this year when construction starts on a new 90-bed nursing home. The HSE has confirmed work will start on the community nursing unit on the Leitrim Road by the end of 2024.
Tenders have been received and they are currently being assessed. Local councillor Paddy Farrell, a member of the Western Regional Health Forum, says the nursing home is badly needed:
