A new Code of Practice for waste water treatment for single houses is expected to benefit just a small number of people seeking to build
new homes in Leitrim.
The Environmental Protection Agency is finalising the new Code, which it's hoped will be published before the end of the year.
Officials from Leitrim County Council have met with representatives of the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government and the EPA to discuss the ongoing problems in Leitrim.
Dense soil in the county does not allow for adequate percolation and as a result does not meet the antipollution levels required by the EPA.
Director of Services Joseph Gilhooley who attended the meeting says there should be some but limited benefit to people in the county.
