The new Health Minister visited Ballinasloe today to meet some of the families included in the maternity review.
It’s examining the births of nine babies in Portiuncula Hospital over concerns about their delivery.
Six babies needed ‘cooling’ at the hospital last year – at least three times the norm.
Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill also met the external review team and Portiuncula Hospital management today.
She intends to meet the review team again in two weeks’ time and says patients’ safety is vital.
