The new President of the Irish Hotels Federation says one of her main priorities this year will to reverse the decision to raise VAT in the hospitality sector to 13.5% again.
Denyse Campbell who's a native of Strokestown in Roscommon was elected by president of the federation at the Annual General Meeting of the body this year.
Denyse says her focus will be on rebuilding and renewing the tourism industry after an unpreceded two years.
She says one obvious challenge is the rising costs for the hotel sector and that the proposed increase in VAT is not something that it can possibly absorb this year.
