The new Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council is urging the public to continue to cooperate with public health guidelines as the country begins to emerge from the pandemic.
Leitrim councillors gathered at the Bush Hotel in Carrick on Shannon today for their first in-person meeting in 2021.
At today's meeting, Councillor Paddy O'Rourke was elected is to take the position of chair from outgoing Cathaoirleach Mary Bohan.
Councillor O'Rourke was nominated for the role by Councillor Caillin Ellis.
This afternoon's meeting also saw Fianna Fail Councillor Paddy Farrell voted as Leas Cathaoirleach following a proposal by Sean McGowan.
Councillor O'Rourke's first order of business following the election was to urge the public to stick with public health measures for a little longer:
