The new chair of the Longford branch of the Irish Farmers Association believes local farmers are being left in turmoil.
John Sheridan has taken up the position, replacing the outgoing chair Gavin White.
Each County Executive elects a Chairman, with the position being the chief spokesperson for local farmers in their county.
The Edgeworthstown farmer believes the Department of Agriculture and the Government are not stepping up to the mark to support farmers.
Speaking to Let's Talk, John says local pig, sheep and cattle farmers are being left in up in the air.
''We've a lot of things coming down the track, between the sheep which is the big thing at the minute, the cull they're talking about, the suckler groups not being helped at all, everything seems to be in turmoil and no body seems to be willing to step up the mark financially.''
