The official opening of the new Lough Ree RNLI will take place at a special ceremony tomorrow at Coosan Point outside Athlone.
The dual celebration will also see the official dedication of the charity's Atlantic 85 class lifeboat the Tara Scougall.
The family of the young woman who died from cancer in the UK fundraised the quarter of a million pounds to buy the lifeboat, and it was presented to the Lough Ree service in recent years.
Some members of the Scougall family will be attending the delayed dedication ceremony tomorrow.
The new lifeboat station cost €1.2 million in total, and €100,000 of that has been raised by the local community.
Damien Delaney who's a founder member of Lough Ree RNLI says the support of people in the local area has also been generous towards the service.
