A new Minor Injuries Unit is to open in Mullingar in a weeks' time.
The unit will be operated under the auspices of the Regional Hospital Mullingar, but it'll be located at the Charter Medical Private Hospital in Ballinderry.
The unit will cater for people from Mullingar and surrounding areas from the age of 16 and over. It will operate 7 days a week, but will close on Bank Holidays.

The MIU will deal with suspected broken bones, sprains and strains, minor burns or scalds, and minor chest injuries.
It's hoped the opening of the unit will help alleviate overcrowding in the Emergency Department at Mullingar hospital.
The average waiting time to be seen at a Minor Injuries Unit is under two hours.
