The new owners of the old Convent of Mercy building in Ballinamore say they hope to develop a boutique hotel there in the coming years.
The building was bought recently by Leitrim natives Sean and Siobhan Faughnan who live in London.
Sean Faughnan says they had been looking for a small investment property when they saw the Convent building and fell in love with it.
He says while they have had initial plans drawn up they have no fixed time for the project as yet.
The Leitrim native says they hope to develop the project in keeping with the beautiful features inside the building:
"There is a lovely staircase in it, it is a beautiful building inside. There is a church area there that we've designed to be the restaurant area which has lovely stained glass.
We have plans done, we have the drawings done for a little boutique hotel restaurant and bar. The architect has done a brilliant job and we are happy with what he has come up with. So that is the plan.
We don't have a date or year in place yet because we need to sit down with the architect because we need to put the official plan together and maybe submit it."
