A local pharmacist has welcomed new prescription rules that have recently come into effect. From the beginning of last month, pharmacists can extend prescriptions up to a maximum of 12 months for patients, if they feel it's appropriate.
The move was brought in to provide flexibility for patients who won't need to visit a GP for a repeat prescription, and to reduce the burden on GPs. Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, Carrick-on-Shannon pharmacist Fintan Cox believes it will take some pressure off GPs.
