Over 1,700 Ukrainians are living in Co Roscommon. A new report gives an insight into the number of refugees being housed in the county. Roscommon County Council's management report for October will be considered at a council meeting this afternoon. It reveals there are around 1,702 Ukrainians in the county, with 585 living in state-provided accommodation. The public offered 333 properties under the Offer a Home programme, which is open until next March.
234 of these properties have been allocated to Ukrainian families, with 716 people living in them. The report also reveals there are six International Protection Accommodation Services centres in Roscommon, currently housing 212 refugees. A new IPAS centre recently opened in Castlerea, with capacity for 25 refugees in nine apartments. Currently, there's one family of eight people living there.
