There is clear evidence humans are changing Ireland’s climate, with new research highlighting the need for climate adaptation measures particularly when it comes to flood protection.

A study carried out by Maynooth University's ICARUS Climate Research Centre has found locations in the east and midlands of the country show the greatest rate of warming in annual temperature.

An analyses of rainfall data also revealed many weather stations across the country are experiencing substantial increases in winter rainfall per degree of global warming.
