A Longford shop owner says he was left with no real choice but to decommission his petrol pump this week because of new regulations.
Pascal Lyons who runs a shop and post office in the village of Ardagh says he had operated just one petrol pump with a small capacity tank as a service to local customers but he can't afford to do it anymore.
He says the new regulations will end up costing far more than he makes from the sale of petrol, and many other small petrol retailers are also going to be taking the same decision.
Pascal says he doesn't like to be taking another service from a rural area but the letter from Revenue in recent weeks was the last straw:
