Newly appointed senator Gareth Scahill has confirmed he wants to run in the next general election in Roscommon-Galway.
The Castlerea man was chosen as one of the Taoiseach's 11 nominees for the Seanad on Friday.
He was elected to Roscommon County Council last June, but now must stand down from that role.
