Two ground breaking safety initiatives for County Longford were unveiled at an event last night. The See It, Say It initiative and an app aimed at assisting vulnerable people were launched at the crime expo and Longford Community Safety Partnership meeting at the Longford Arms Hotel. See It, Say It encourages people to report suspicious activity to Gardaí while the app enables local members to check up on elderly residents and those with disabilities.
The app features an online map where vulnerable residents can register their location which is then visible to patrolling Gardaí. Longford is only the second county after Mayo to be included in the initiative. Community Policing Sergeant Darren Conlon has said the app will provide peace of mind for vulnerable residents:
