New safety bollards are to be erected in Frenchpark in a bid to increase visibility at one of the county's worst blind spots.
The issue was raised at this month's Boyle MD meeting where local councillors backed a motion by Councillor John Cummins to erect the poles at the Castlerea turnoff in the village.
While this will result in a loss of parking Councillor Cummins believes it will alleviate the number of accidents that could occur.
Previously, ,traffic lights and a roundabout for the junction had been ruled out as not being a viable solution to resolving the traffic issues.
The village is due to be by-passed by the upgraded N5 which will see right of way given to motorists travelling from Boyle and Castlerea.
In the meantime fellow Councillor Liam Callaghan believes bollards are the best solution to save someone from being seriously injured.
