The national school's pupil numbers have doubled over the past 10 years and it is now spread over two campuses, due to overcrowding.

The principal of Mohill Community College says a new school building for Scoil Mhuire in Carrick-on-Shannon is long overdue.

The national school's pupil numbers have doubled over the past 10 years and it is now spread over two campuses, due to overcrowding.

The school's committee met Taoiseach Simon Harris in Carrick last week to discuss their need for a new school building.

He told them a decision would be made shortly.

Cormac Flynn went to Scoil Mhuire as a child and is running for Sinn Fein in Carrick in the local elections - he supports their campaign.
