Longford County Council has been called on to adopt a new strategy in the fight against dog fouling.
At this week's meeting of Longford County Council, Councillor Uruemu Adejinmi called for the introduction of a green dog walker toolkit for members of the public, community groups and tidy town organisations county wide.
The tool kit would provide volunteers with high vis jackets, bag dispensers and extra bags in order for them to be a highly visible reminder for people to clean up after their pets.
Volunteers would also dispense bags to collect the waste to anyone who did not have one themselves.
