New Strokestown Famine Museum expected to be ready for summer 2022

The attraction is currently closed as works get underway as sport of the €5m investment.

It's hoped that five million euro revamp of the National Famine Museum in Strokestown will be ready to welcome visitors by the start of next summer.

Minister Heather Humphreys turned the sod over the weekend on the major development of the Strokestown Park House and Gardens which was originally announced in October 2019.

However, due to the pandemic, the project will now only be completed by mid-summer 2022.

The museum is currently closed but Mary Stack, head of product development at Fáilte Ireland, explains why they hope the project will be complete in just over six months :
