Farmland in the Shannonside region is selling for an average of €7,500 per acre according to a new study.
The 2021 Agricultural Land Report compiled by the Irish Farmers Journal shows land prices rising across the country.
Local prices are currently the highest in Longford, where an acre is sold for an average of €8,500.
However, due to a significant increase in the supply of farmland hitting the market, prices in Longford have recorded a 7 per cent drop when compared to 2020.
Prices have shot up in Leitrim, where supply has seen a major drop, resulting in a 39 per cent increase in prices leading to an average acre price of €6,188.
Meanwhile, in Roscommon, figures have remained steady compared to 2020, with an increase in property prices amounting to 3 per cent.
