Women in Roscommon will be able to share skills and partake in social activities at a new shed that is set to open next week.
The women's shed is modelled off the men's sheds concept, where people join together in sharing skills and improving their general well-being. The Elphin shed will be the first of it's kind in the Shannonside region.
Women from the Ballinameen and Elphin area are invited to attend an information meeting about the shed in Elphin Community Centre on Wednesday of next week at half past eight.
Organiser Trisha Ryan says she expects members to meet once a month to take part in various events in a fun, inclusive and supportive environment.
''We're thinking once a month initially, we don't want to put any burden on anybody that they have to come weekly. If its once a month, they can save that day, that they know they are out once a month, just come together. If there's a women's shed it just gives you that break, a relaxing break where there's something light hearted where you can just have fun and chat and it'll be a breath of fresh air, I think that's mainly what its about and hopefully that's what we can do.''
