The newly renovated Garda station in Athlone will be on show for members of the public this afternoon for a special community day.
The open day at the station is part of a series being run at various stations across the country as part of the 100th anniversary of An Garda Siochana.
The station in Athlone underwent several million euro worth of investment in recent years and people will be able to see what kind of work has been carried out between 12 and 3 o' clock today.
A special 'sensory hour' is available between 11 and 12 today for families who prefer a quieter environment.
Sgt Andrew Haran says they'll also have an accident simulator from the Road Safety Authority on hand today where people can experience a little of what an actual collision can feel like:
