The Tánaiste says he hopes the Government will be in a position to provide the loss of rates from the closure of the Lough Ree power plant to Longford County Council in the next budget.
Longford-Westmeath TD Joe Flaherty recently raised the issue in the Dáil.
The escalation of decarbonisation brought forward the closure of the power plant in Lanesborough to 2020, resulting in a five-year loss of rates in the region of €1.2 million per year to Longford County Council.
However, the Government have covered the losses over the past 4 years.
