Residents living in the heart of Ballaghaderreen town won't be able to park outside their homes all day under a major regeneration scheme planned for the area.
Time limits on motorists using on-street car parking for 30 spaces are also likely to be introduced.
Around 40 people attended an online webinar last night hosted by the design company behind a major revamp of the west Roscommon town.
A fifty percent reduction in available car parking spaces in the town centre is planned- with just thirty spaces left for shoppers near the Square.
The Planners hope improvements to the car park at The Plots will ease the burden on displaced shoppers - as well as residents - who will now have to park away from their homes and walk to their front doors under the plans.
Two new bus stop locations will be developed in order to free up space in the town centre, while one local woman claimed that the west of Ireland does not have the weather for the plan - and even a two or three minute walk in the rain would be difficult for some people.
Councillor Michael Mulligan claimed that the loss of car parking spaces will result in businesses closing, while Councillors Liam Callaghan and Joe Murphy hoped that a process of engagement would help find the best solution for residents and the planners.
One resident also claimed that the design team was engaged in a lot of problem-solving before problems exist and that they were missing a trick by not developing something to attract people into the town.
It's hoped the final design can be completed in the coming weeks, and an application for government funding will be made in November, with the works scheduled to begin in early 2022.
