People in county Roscommon will not have to dig any deeper to pay for their Local Property Tax next year.
It's after the members of Roscommon County Council voted to retain the same level of LPT at 15 per cent for the county at a meeting this afternoon.
A reduction in the rate could have created a deficit of just over €1 million euro for the local authority, which would have seen massive cuts in discretionary spending on items like graveyard and public amenity maintenance, swimming pools and match funding for community and voluntary projects as well as home improvement grants for people in need of assistance.
In a making the decision, 13 councillors supported retaining the rate at the same level, while 5 members voted against the move.
