New figures from the Road Safety Authority reveal that five people in Roscommon lost their lives in road crashes last year - the highest in the Shannonside Northern Sound region.
Three people lost their lives in crashes in County Monaghan and two in County Cavan.
One fatal road crash was recorded by Gardai in Leitrim - with none in Longford- the only county with a zero figure along with Laois.
According to the RSA, the number of road fatalities increased by nine or 6% last year.
However, there were 1,407 fewer serious and minor injury collisions recorded, a 25% decrease compared to 2019.
