No HAP properties available in Leitrim or Athlone last month according to survey

A new survey shows that no in Leitrim or Athlone properties were available to rent under the Housing Assistance Payment scheme last month.

Only 41 properties were available in December under HAP which sees landlords receive a part rental payment from the State.

According to the Simon Communities of Ireland only one property was available to rent under the standard rate and that was a one-bedroom house in Kildare suitable for singles or a couple.

Wayne Stanley of Simon Communities Ireland, says 41 HAP properties amounts to almost nothing considering the levels of homelessness.
