The Minister for the OPW says there are no regrets at having tried and so far failed to alleviate flooding for half a dozen families in south Roscommon.
Patrick O'Donovan has confirmed to Shannonside FM that efforts in the last 18 months to lay a pipe to drain water from Lough Funshinagh have cost his department close to two million euro
The Limerick TD met with local Councillors and Oireachtas members in Roscommon at a special meeting on Wednesday to canvas opinion on what the next best course of action can be for families facing rising waters.
He says that despite the successful challenges by an environmental group to efforts by the Council to progress works, he believes it was the right thing to do to try and help :
