North Longford sees highest Fine Gael local election vote nationally

The party secured three out of the five seats in the constituency with Cllrs Garry Murtagh, Paraic Brady and Padraig McNamara all elected.

New statistics from the Local Elections shows that Fine Gael had their highest vote share in the Granard Local Electoral area. Political analyst Adrian Kavanagh has compiled the statistics from Local Elections 2024. According to the statistics, the Granard LEA had the highest percentage Fine Gael vote in the country at 58.8%. The party secured three out of the five seats in the constituency with Cllr's Garry Murtagh, Paraic Brady and Padraig McNamara all elected.

Fianna Fáil performed well in the Roscommon LEA securing three seats with a 44.8% share of the vote. That was the third highest Fianna Fáil percentage vote in the country as Cllrs Paschal Fitzmaurice, Marty McDermott and Larry Brennan were elected. Meanwhile, Independents had 52.8% of the vote in the Athlone LEA in Co. Roscommon which was the 5th highest non-party vote in the country. Cllr's Emer Kelly, Laurence Fallon and Tony Ward all elected having secured a strong vote. The Manorhamilton LEA in Co. Leitrim had the highest percentage turnout in the country at 66.5%. Two other Shannonside LEAs made up the top three with Ballinamore second at 65.6% and and Granard third at 65.4%.
