The head of North West Hospice says a quarter of a million in funding will allow for an increase in services next year.
The once-off allocation from the Department of Health will allow for more access to palliative care services across the region
Head of Communications and Fundraising Bernadette McGarvey says demand has increased in the last few years.
To date in 2021, 700 patients have received care up from 500 in 2019.
The funding is part of an overall package of €10 million euro with one million announced for both the proposed 15 bed Midlands Hospice and Cavan Hospice.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound, Bernadette says the funding is most welcome following a challenging two years of fundraising.
