A senior worker with the North West hospice says nurses who work with the home care service have great admiration for the families who are caring for someone in their homes.
Jacinta Kelly who runs the Community Homecare Nurses unit with the hospice for Sligo and Leitrim says the work of the nurses is very much for the family as well as the patient.
Speaking on Let's Talk this afternoon Jacinta says while the doctors, and other healthcare professionals are dropping in and out of a house where someone is sick, the situation is a constant one for the family.
She says the nurses get great satisfaction from being able to empower the families to take care of their loved ones…
