NPHET meeting today to discuss limited easing of Covid restrictions

There's a lot of speculation that any easing of restrictions recommended by members of the National Public Health Emergency Team will be very limited

The National Public Health Emergency Team is meeting this morning to discuss what restrictions can be eased after April 5th.

It’s believed the 5 kilometre limit could be relaxed while people may be allowed to meet outside with one other household.

Outdoor sport is also being considered along with the resumption of construction.

NPHET will make its recommendations to Government who will make a final decision tomorrow.

The five-day moving average of Covid-19 cases has grown by five percent in the past week to 620.

604 new cases of the virus were announced yesterday as well as 13 more deaths.

There were 6 new cases recorded for Roscommon yesterday evening, and 5 in Leitrim , while Longford was reported to have less than 5 new confirmed cases.

In public hospitals overnight there were 328 patients with the disease, which is down four percent since last Sunday, while latest figures show there's 68 patients in ICU.
