The amount of burglaries in the Roscommon/Longford area has increased by almost 50 percent in the first six months of this year.
It comes as figures from the CSO and Phonewatch show that burglaries increased by 33% nationally.
According to the report, burglaries in Roscommon and Longford increased by 47% from January to June this year, one of the highest increases in the country.
However, the Leitrim/Sligo area experienced a decrease of 20% during the same time period, the biggest decrease nationwide.
The report also points out that 1 in 10 homes in the country have been burgled in the last 10 years, and 3 out of every 4 homeowners are concerned about being burgled.
