The number of houses granted planning permission in the Shannonside region has decreased in the last year.
The figures are contained in the latest release from the Central Statistics Office
The number of new housing builds granted planning permission has decreased between quarter 1 of 2023 and 2024. According to the CSO, 43 houses were given planning in the first quarter of this year across Longford, Leitrim, and Roscommon. 10 houses were given the go-ahead in Leitrim, 16 in Longford, and 17 in Roscommon. This is an overall decrease on the same period last year where 51 houses were granted planning permission. The majority of those were in Roscommon at 25, followed by Leitrim at 14, and Longford with 12.
Nationally, 1,432 planning permissions for houses were granted, a decrease on the previous year's figure of 1,544]
