A Roscommon Deacon says the number of people joining the priesthood is lower than last year.
Chris Garrett is one of only four priests being ordained in Ireland this year, down from eight priests the previous year.
He says people may feel less inclined to live a pastoral life due to the church’s scandals and the influence of technology.
Deacon Chris will be ordained as a priest for the Diocese of Elphin at a ceremony in Sligo Cathedral on Pentecost Sunday at 3 pm.
