People are being encouraged to partake in an information day for older people in North Longford.
The event, organised by Longford Community Resources, is taking place in Aughnacliffe Community Centre this on Friday from 12pm to 3pm.
A variety of organisations that support older people such as Longford County Council, Age Action and Alone will also be at the event.
There will be a community bus available for people needing transport and a light lunch will be served.
Social Inclusion Programmes Manager Sean Regan says the event will help older adults take a more active role in their communities.
'It's for older people or their family so for example if there is someone in their family that needs support that may not be able to come along family members are welcome to come along as well in terms of getting information for their parents or whoever.
Our role is to see if there is support available that we can provide for older people because we are aware of the fact that especially after covid, people are still used to getting out and about.'
