Anna O'Flanagan is counting down to a first appearance at the Olympic Games the countdown begins to the rescheduled Tokyo 2020.
O'Flanagan and her Ireland team mate were all set for causing more hockey surprises, but Covid-19 put paid to the 2020 Olympic Games, which are now rescheduled to summer 2021.
“Since the summer we’ve been back training and we’re just so excited, I think we’re about eight months away from Tokyo” explained O'Flanagan.
“Our hearts have just about started beating again since what happened last year in Donnybrook” added O'Flanagan who featured in all Ireland’s game at the silver winning performance at the 2018 World cup.
“We’re really excited we’re training away in Abbotstown, it’s going well, it is different to what we would have planned but it is exciting.”
Ireland will face South Africa on July 21st to open their Olympic Games programme and then meet Netherlands, Germany, India and Great Britain as the 2018 World Cup runners-up take their Olympic bow.
