One in three young people in County Roscommon has self-harmed more than once while a third of teenagers have used pornography as a way to learn about sex.
The findings are part of the Planet Youth survey for 2020 which will be officially launched this morning.
This report summarises the findings of the Planet Youth survey, carried out in December, involving 586 15 and 16 year-olds attending the 9 post-primary schools and 2 Youthreach centres in County Roscommon.
52 per cent have reported that Covid 19 has impacted negatively on their mental health, 56 per cent are more lonely.
43 percent have been drunk once or more in the last year 15 percent have tried cannabis.
35 percent get alcohol in a friends' house with 23 percent getting alcohol from their parent - teenagers that report hanging out in the streets regularly are 6 times more likely to use cannabis.
While 82 percent of young people feeling safe in school, 36 percent of girls and 28 percent of boys report being bullied online and 32 percent of young people reported self-harm more than once.
Nearly a third of teenagers use pornography as a way to learn about sex and one in four have sent a sexually explicit image through social media.
