An online public meeting is taking place for people in the Ballinasloe area over plans to operate a waste transfer station at Poolboy.
Planners are considering a full application for the infill facility from Barna Waste lodged last week.
Over 2,300 people lodged objections to a similar proposal in 2018, and after a long campaign, the High Court rejected it, ruling it would have a negative impact because of the close proximity to low-lying areas of the River Suck.
Tonight's meeting is being organised by the ‘Ballinasloe Says No’ group and will feature contributions by public representatives as well as representatives of local schools, clubs and businesses in the area.
Details of how to access the meeting, which begins at 7:30pm, are on the group's Facebook and Instagram pages.
