They’re being reduced from 80 kilometres an hour to 60 around the country, to try to address rising road-deaths.

The speed limits on all but one local road in Co Roscommon will be cut by 20 kilometres an hour next February.

They’re being reduced from 80 kilometres an hour to 60 around the country, to try to address rising road-deaths.

Roscommon County Council has decided to make an exception for the old N5 near Ballaghaderreen, where the limit will stay at 80.

Councillors expressed concern at the other reductions at their meeting today – including Independent Laurence Fallon.
