OPW Minister Patrick O' Donovan is repeating his concerns around the planning process and the effect it is having on efforts to protect peoples homes and property.
He was speaking following the latest meeting of the Shannon Flood Risk State Agency Co-Ordination Working Group in recent days.
The group was established in 2016 to enhance co-operation across all of the state agencies involed with the River Shannon.
While the meeting was told that projects in Athlone and a couple of other towns are progressing well, he said there is always the concern that some schemes can face lengthy delays when an objection is made.
Minister O' Donovan while huge efforts have been made to improve the planning process in this country, it can lead to serious delays on hugely important projects that are designed to protect people.
